2021 Tournament

We have some updates for the 2021 tournament, we have accepted 10 teams this year by committee vote to allow a memorial team near and dear to our hearts! We have rough drafted our bracket and that will be available to view in the near future when we get a better idea of team names. Due to accepting the 10 teams, we will not be holding the homerun derby this year to allow for the additional games to be played. Of course there are a few updates to the rules that come along with the addition of these games and timing requirements.

We will be having a interesting twist for players this year. Homer bracelets will be available this year for purchase by team members. There will be 3 allowed per team, and those you purchase them will be able to hit unlimited homers throughout the course of the weekend. They have to be purchased before the first game played by the team and can’t be transferred to other players (to keep it fair). These mean that the wearers of these bracelets can still knock in runs after the 5 HR team limit is met.

We will have a few raffles – all of which will be posted on our better world page (Andrew Oxenrider Memorial Tournament on BetterWorld) where you can purchase tickets in advance. We will be selling chances throughout the tournament where you can purchase tickets via cash, venmo or paypal. We will cut off online purchasing at noon on Sunday so that we can get everything organized to be able to draw winners. In person cut off with be at start of championship game, slated to start at 4:10pm as of right now.

Tragedy hits again.

This past weekend our valley and the tournament family was struck with tragedy upon hearing of the loss of a beautiful young woman and the injuries, both mental and physical, to the rest of the passengers. We want to do as much as we can to support them all in their time of need as they have helped to support so many others in the past.

Currently, we are running a few raffles to help raise funds for these families and thanks those who have donated both prizes and toward the raffles. We kept the amount of tickets fairly low because we want to make sure that we were able to quickly raise funds to proved financial assistance. We know that money will never replace our friends and family members that pass on too soon, however we want to make sure there is less to worry about while the initial healing takes place. We are asking for prayers to help provide comfort and support to those involved, all of which who have a strong Christian faith.

Raffle and Bracket

We are coming into the home stretch!

We will be making a donation to Chase Coleman and Kera Spickler from our proceeds this year. To assist with this we are holding a fundraiser raffle (flyer attached).

We also have our schedule determined, unless mother nature forces us to change. The winner of the raffle will be drawn after the championship game on Sunday which will be followed by the presentation of the checks to the beneficiaries. (see 2nd attachment)

Saturday morning that Mahantongo Fire company will be having a drive through chicken barbeque and will be running the food stand throughout the course of the tournament.

While we would love to see everyone there, we ask that if you feel you may be ill please stay home. We are strongly requesting that all spectators wear a face covering or mask to watch and ask that people be mindful of maintaining some social distancing. We will not be requiring players to wear masks DURING their games, however upon completion we ask that face coverings be worn. We feel this is the safest way to comply with current government ordinances.

Current Updates

As the Mahantongo Fire Company has decided it is best to cancel their annual picnic we will be altering our tournament timing based on not having to work around their schedule. That being said we will only be playing on Saturday and Sunday. Games will start after the chicken barbeque pick up on Saturday. Sunday we will start mid morning. Exact times will be determined closer to tournament time based on weather forecast.

The fire company will be having a food stand therefore the small concession stand at the feild will only be offering Tshirts. This will reduce the amount of sanitizing that has to happen.

Please consider coming out and supporting both the Fire Company and this tournament.

Thank you for your continued support and your understanding through this difficult time.

2020 progress

We have made the decision that we will be holding our tournament this year.

The decision has been made about the recipient of our donation. This will be revealed the week of the tournament!

Shirts are designed and preorders are being accepted now. Please contact a committee member with your order. Preorders do offer a small discount over purchases at time of tournament, as well as ensure that your size will be available for you. Thank you to Walter Boyer promotional items for your beautiful work again this year!

Supplies are being ordered and collected. As well as our VOLUNTEER umpires are being rounded up. If you are willing to help contact Becky with your interest.

We thank you for your continued support and ask those of you who are prayerful to keep the tournament as part of your prayer routine for safety for all who participate and favorable weather.
